How to randomize text case

Paste your text into Your text, or press Load example. A randomly cased version appears next to it and reshuffles as you type. Press Shuffle again for a different mix. Copy the result or download it as a .txt file. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing you paste is uploaded.

Examples

Output is random, so your result will differ. Each row below shows one possible output:

Limits and edge cases

  • Each letter is cased independently with a 50/50 chance of upper or lower.
  • Digits, punctuation, spaces, line breaks and emoji are never changed.
  • Randomization is not round-trippable: running the output again gives a new mix, not the original.
  • Some letters change length when uppercased (e.g. ß becomes SS), so the output can be longer than the input.

Frequently asked questions

How do I randomize text case?

Paste your text into the input box and a randomly cased version appears instantly. Press Shuffle again for a different mix, then copy it or download it as a .txt file.

Is the output the same every time?

No. Each letter is randomly upper or lower with a 50/50 chance, so every run gives a different mix. Press Shuffle again until you like the look.

Are digits, symbols and emoji changed?

No. Only letters with upper and lower forms are randomized. Digits, punctuation, spaces, line breaks and emoji pass through untouched.

Can I undo a shuffle?

No. Randomization is not reversible, unlike reversing text. Keep a copy of your original input if you need it.

Why did ß become SS?

Some letters change length when uppercased. The German ß uppercases to SS in JavaScript, so the output can be one character longer. This is expected.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Randomization runs in your browser with JavaScript and nothing is sent to a server. Inputs under 200 KB are kept in your browser's local storage so they are still there when you come back.
