Limits and edge cases
- Conversion is case-insensitive: lowercase letters encode exactly like uppercase.
- Characters with no Morse code (such as emoji) are skipped and counted in the status line.
- Letters are joined with the letter separator and words with the word separator; both accept \n, \t and \\ escapes.
- Whitespace of any kind, including new lines, breaks words.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert text to Morse code?
Paste your text into the input box and the Morse code appears instantly in the result box. Copy it or download it as a .txt file.
Which characters are supported?
Letters A to Z, digits 0 to 9, and common punctuation such as period, comma, question mark, exclamation mark, slash, colon and at sign. Anything else is skipped and counted.
Is it case-sensitive?
No. Lowercase letters are converted exactly like uppercase, so sos and SOS both become dot dot dot dash dash dash dot dot dot.
How are words separated?
Letters inside a word are joined with the letter separator (a space by default) and words are joined with the word separator (space slash space by default). You can change both in the Options panel, including escape codes like tab and new line.
What happens to emoji or unsupported symbols?
Characters with no Morse code are dropped from the output and reported in the status line, for example 2 characters have no Morse code and were skipped.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion runs in your browser with JavaScript and nothing is sent to a server. Inputs under 200 KB are kept in your browser's local storage so they are still there when you come back.
