Limits and edge cases

  • Text is encoded as UTF-8 bytes, so ASCII characters use one byte each while accented letters and emoji use more.
  • The separator accepts escapes: type \n for a new line, \t for a tab, or leave it empty for no separator.
  • Tick Uppercase digits to show A–F instead of a–f; the values are identical either way.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert text to hex?

Paste your text into the input box and the hexadecimal output appears instantly. Copy it or download it as a .txt file.

What encoding is used?

Text is encoded as UTF-8 bytes, and each byte is shown as a two-digit hex pair. ASCII characters use one byte each; accented letters and emoji use more.

Can I change the separator between hex values?

Yes. Type any separator such as a space, comma, or empty for none. Use \n for a new line and \t for a tab.

Can I get uppercase hex digits?

Yes. Tick the Uppercase digits option to get A-F instead of a-f. The numeric values are identical.

How do I convert hex back to text?

Use the companion hex to text tool to decode hexadecimal pairs back into readable text.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Conversion runs in your browser with JavaScript and nothing is sent to a server. Inputs under 200 KB are kept in your browser's local storage so they are still there when you come back.
